A few days ago I went to the exhibition of an artist who lives in the town above mine, Pieralberto is actually originally from Novara but now lives in Castagno, a small delightful village on the Pistoia hills, a well-known home place for artists and artisans, there must be a special air for creatives! The exhibition was held in the frescoed rooms of the municipality of Pistoia, in four large and ventilated rooms and was open to the public for a few weeks in the late afternoon.
Pieralberto alternates paintings in a more classic style with other more modern ones, in many of his paintings he leads the dressed or undressed female figure and many are inspired by his wife Sarah, in various paintings his face appears in various shapes. He has a very conceptual and particular art, but there are also paintings that represent landscapes dear to the painter, both from his life in the north and from the town of Castagno. It leaves freedom of interpretation to the public, letting everyone interpret what they feel in the works, without necessarily giving an explanation on the part of the artist that could change the perceptions of the viewer.
The female figure is represented in many ways there is this strong combination between saints and sinners, a little saint, a little witch, very fascinating. The exhibition was very interesting and several paintings struck me, some were a bit reminiscent of Pollock's style even if only in some details and they were absolutely my favorites. Pieralberto was very helpful and left me free to admire the works without rushing me. It was a great show.
