Would you like to earn HBD or Hive by selling your secondhand goods using your Hive wallet?
You may be a Crafter or an Artist and want to sell your creations.
Hive Thrifted gives you the opportunity to become an entrepreneur at no cost.
What made me set up the Hive Thrifted Community?
I used to ask myself the question:
Why are my favourite clothing brands so pricey?
A gal likes looking good, not so, but I cannot afford to change my wardrobe as often as I would like!
What about the gorgeous kids' clothing that they outgrow way too soon?
I also love changing my home décor, but I cannot afford to do this too often.
That was until I discovered a trendy second-hand online store where I have been selling and buying good quality secondhand clothing, homeware, plus many other products.
I earn Fiat, which I either use to buy someone else's preloved goods, thus changing my wardrobe, home décor, or pay a couple of bills.
However, that's not what I really want.
I would rather earn HBD or Hive, help other Hivers do the same, and benefit from secondhand bargain buys, and that's what Hive Thrifted is all about.
Minimize, Declutter, and Earn
Dust off your preloved unwanted goods to sell in Hive Thrifted –
Clothes, Homeware, Books, Techno, Art, Crafts, etc.
How?
- Once you've dusted those forgotten items, take clear photos, as pointed out by @crosheille when she wrote about Hive Thrifted! The Perks of Joining the Fun…
- Determine your price in HBD (more stable than Hive)
- Write a blog about your products, price, and shipping
- Connect with Hivers from your own country for affordable postage
- Tag your country, and pin your post at your approximate location on pinmapple.com
- Research affordable postage – preferably locker-to-locker so no addresses are shared

AND
@coquicoin wrote a detailed blog about Tu Venta de Garaje en Hive [sp-eng], especially for our Hispanic Community.
The Virtues of Patience
Your goods may sit on your shelves for a long while, but they will be seen, and could be snapped up by a keen buyer, once more Hivers learn about our community.
What happens when it sits at the back of your cupboard?
Nothing, zilch, except collecting more dust/ mildew/ etc.
Our first seller @silversaver888 however made a speedy sale with her Pearl Earrings, snapped up by @shanibeer, who in turn shared her experience with us - #hivethrifted | It Works! | Buying Preloved Items through Hive Thrifted with HBD - Review
Back to Decluttering
This rewarding task has many pluses - Less Waste, More Taste
I have…
- Discovered lost treasures
- Freed up wasted space
- Created an open and clutter-free home
- Accomplished more each day – no more searching for items
Another big bonus is that many of those forgotten items have been sold, and now are being used by delighted buyers.
My Vision for Hive Thrifted
My vision is that Hive Thrifted will not only help Hivers sell and buy goods at bargain prices using their Hive wallets (no transaction costs!), help form new friendships, but also attract more bloggers to Hive.
Growth
Our first blog was written on April 17, 2023, and we have grown to 75 subscribers.
Thank you to everyone who has helped spread the word, you know who you are, but I have to make a special mention of @dswigle who shared Let's Hive Thrifted by Market Friday with her #marketfriday community.
Please can you help by reblogging our Hive Thrifted posts?
We want to see those shelves filled to the brim ;)

Many will appreciate using HBD or Hive watching the Repo rate ever increasing in our own homeland. Helpful in variety of ways to keep oneself going, will assist and arrange something to sell once my head is above water!

I've had a crazy week here as well Joan, hardly had time to pop in as much as I'd liked to!
had a beeeg birthday;)
Hope you had a wonderful week with friends and family hitting the big milestone, when are you off to your son? Happy belated, I have not had much time and will be like this for a couple of weeks.
This is the second post I have read on this. I still have clothes my son wore years ago that I have done nothing with. I would rather get paid for them then donate. I have contemplated upcycling them into other things but have not gotten around to it.
That would be perfect for writing a post and selling it here.
Our community is still young, but once we have more Hivers join in, I'm sure it will become just as popular as the snazzy online store I've been selling my stuff on.
Please read the guidelines, especially about tagging correctly.
Hope to see your secondhand clothing for boys here @wanderingmoon :)
Hello again!
So I'm building up creative steam here and am about to start selling. Soonish because OCD and it has to be perfect or close to anyway.
I read guidelines but they included to add a handwritten note to show the product is legit and available. Makes sense!
But I'm going to be making on order basis only so I don't have to spend on and hold stock.
What do, please?
Happy Monday! <3
Hi @nickydee, as Hive Thrifted still is in its infancy, we're going to have to adapt to the operations of our sellers.
The main objective is that Hivers transact through their Hive wallets.
If the product was seen on Hive and they transact outside of Hive, they would be breaking the rules, but we naturally cannot police it.
Honesty prevails!
When sellers offer products on an order basis, buyers need to check out the reputation of the seller through their Hive profile, and ask for the verification note with a date before transferring Hive/HBD, in order to protect themselves.
You can explain that in your blog. Once a relationship of trust builds up between sellers and buyers, there will be no need for that.
I have a similar conundrum with my Yaga store.
If my products aren't moving on Hive, I'm adding it to my Yaga store. Once it's sold, I will mark it as such.
Our BnB bookings work on the same principle - we are listed on various sites, whichever site processes a reservarion, gets the commission. If a guest does an enquiry through a booking site but contact me outside the site in an attempt to bargain, I refer them back to the booking site. It would be unethical as they found me through the booking site.
Same principle on Hive Thrifted.
So, I will write an update about that asap.
You can go ahead and mention you have cleared it up with me.
We have to get more activity there so need to evolve as and when we see a need for changes.
Thanks for asking, and good luck!
Copy copy :)
Okay... I'll muddle along. I still have a lot to do before my production logistics sorted anyway.
But good to know to be able to include.
Thanks for the info and time. As always.
Well... one would really hope it does. But, realistically... only humans running around being only humans and so we also stay "woke" to protect ourselves my darling angel . Some will always be dishonest. It is what is is. We work around it!
Sending love always :) <3
I think this is awesome @lizelle and good luck with it. We NEED these use cases and also off chain promotion. Might I ask if it would be possible to price things in Ecency points too? They have a quite stable value and really need additional uses.
Hope you're having a great week :-)
Hi @nathen007, I'm not familiar with Ecency points don't see a problem with that as it can be exchanged on Hive Engine, if I understand correctly. Any Hive Engine tokens can be used as well.
Hope to see your goods here, have a great week further😉
Hi, Lizelle! @lizelle I think once people get used to using it, it will catch on better. So good to see so many people interested and spreading the word. I have not been posting much more than one or twice a week, but, I add a blip about it every time I post.
I saw that Denise, and really appreciate it. It would be great if it takes off, but Hivers need to connect with people from their own country for affordable parcel delivery.
The locker-to-locker courier system I use for SA deliveries is super affordable, reliable & speedy.
Interestingly Yaga, the online platform where I've been selling was founded in Estonia. Late last year they managed to raise £2.2 million to take social e-commerce to emerging markets!
Here in SA it started in 2020 and already has 627320 users.
Life gets so hectic at times, so I find myself not having enough time for Hive.
Let's make Hive Thrifted grow into something that eventually helps many Hivers.
Thank you for your help💞
I love this, it's a great initiative. That other store you mention also sounds pretty neat. I hope we can get that on Hive... I admit I've been a little worried due to postage cost, but promise I'll try to join in the fun!
Courier costs can be costly especially across borders. Most locker-to-locker systems within one's own country however are surpringly affordable.
I wrote a little about Yaga in my response to Denise, it first started in Estonia and is spreading very quickly to other countries. But they use fiat and manage payments (9% commission), whereas when selling/buying in Hive Thrifted we will be trading using HBD/any tokens in our Hive wallets.
Perhaps shipping to other European countries is not as costly from Romania?
I hope it catches on here on the blockchain.
Have a great Wednesday @honeydue 😉
Gonna be straightening up my garage and cleaning out my mancave closet eventually. When I do, if I have anything to sell that is small enough to mail, I will definitely put in on Hive Thrifted.
That will be great @coinjoe, you could find some real treasures there and enjoy having extra space. We look forward to seeing mancave goods, or anything else, here on Hive Thrifted.
