Blockchain’s Role in Voting Systems: Transparency and Trust

in LeoFinance8 days ago

The sudden rise of the Blockchain technology have really gone a long way to help us achieve a lot of things across every sector of the world. When I am talking about sectors, I mean sectors including the finance, the healthcare, the supply chain management and even many more beyond what we can ever imagine of. Looking back how far the Blockchain technology has come, I will say one of the ways it has helped to grow it is in the voting systems.

But with Blockchain stepping into the picture, it has been able to settle a lot of voting systems issues that we have been having for years. The first is the transparency and the immutability. Blockchain records almost every transaction that is been done and that is done in a very transparent manner to the point that this immutability makes use that elections result are authentic and accurate without no error.

Talking about the current challenges that is been faced in the voting systems most especially the modern voting systems. I will say we have been used to the paper ballots for years but that is changing because there is a lot of downside to the paper ballot. The first is that most of the time, there can be prone to vote loss which is getting so often as day goes by. In fact this issue is getting and reducing confidence in people to vote.

Voting as it were is actually a cornerstone in every democracy system whether in politics and even beyond. It helps to create this integrity nature and that is the Blockchain technology offer due to the fact that it has this Decentralisation and immutable nature, this has helped to offer an innovative solution to help conquer challenges that might have been regarded as fraud, and even voted mistrust.

I will like to talk about the accessibility also. In fact this accessibility aspect is needed to help the voting systems to thrive and succeed. In fact I have come to diabetes that it is making it easy for the people in less developed region to also participate even in elections which is really a massive one to be precise. Another one I will like to talk about is the real time result. Every result achieved on the Blockchain during the voting period is always real-time.

The second one is the aspect of the Decentralisation nature. In fact this is the major one that is helping the nature of the voting systems to be enhanced because over the years, we have always known that the traditional voting system is always centralised in nature but with Blockchain, it has been able to deal with responsibility in a very Decentralised manner which is very important.

Of course there are a lot of challenges right now for the Blockchain based voting systems. Some of the challenges like the Technical complexity, and even many more. Even the scalability issue is a major challenge but I will like to say that over the time, it will be managed and overcome. I see the Blockchain making use of its potential to transform a lot of sector around positively in the future.
