Interesting post @agmoore , whenever you want to sell any property you have to try to leave it in the best possible condition to get better prices, I also have no experience selling houses, but I have a good friend who works with real estate and I have always heard his talks about it with clients. How nice that in spite of the remodeling work you were able to get the full sale price, no doubt for everything you say the photographer and the agent did an excellent job of advertising.
Houses in my country nowadays are not very expensive, as there are many people emigrating to other countries they sell their houses very cheap to have quick money and not leave abandoned properties. For example in the area where I live the houses have an estimated value of 30 thousand dollars, but if they have extra construction the value is higher, I remember that a few years ago the value was higher. the area has police station, fire station and there is even a headquarters of the scientific police a few meters away, it has multiple small shopping centers, sports complexes and schools in the surroundings.

As you describe your community and the property values, you drive home the point that so much in real estate values is beyond our control. That's one of the reasons we sold when we did. Our granddaughter had graduated from high school, so school district didn't matter. Real estate prices had been rising and yet we weren't sure the community would remain stable. It was the right time to get out and move somewhere else.
It turned out, the family that bought the house lived in the same zip code, but in a school district that was poorly rated. They had two-year old, and wanted the best future for hm possible.
I wish most fervently that things in your country will stabilize soon. My country is also on the precipice, it feels, of some unpleasant changes. We will see.
