It is official that Elon Musk has made an offer to buy twitter for $43 billion ($54.20 per share) in cash. That's a lot of money, you know, but Elon is the wealthiest man on the planet and he has a huge wealth.
Musk already owns about 10% of the total twitter shares, but it seems he wants more, he probably wishes to become the DOGE boss, meme lord and the full owner of one of the most used social media apps.
The current price of one twitter stock is around $43, thus making Elon's offer of $54 per share a quite generous one. It's not like $43 was the peak, you could have bought one twitter share for close to $70 one year ago and it can further appreciate.
I have no details on who are the other large stakeholders and how can Elon buy all the stocks off the market and become the owner of twitter, but I sure know one thing, this man is obsessed by power and attention, but is clearly missing a point here.
$43 billion is a lot of money, I already said that in the introduction... But the problem, the way I see it, is Elon investing in a centralized social media network. Considering that he's been quite vocal about freedom of speech for the past few years and definitely against the establishment, I wonder why bother buying twitter.
I know, it's about power, but he could use all that money and buy HIVE tokens for example and gain himself influencing power on a plethora of social media apps built on a decentralized blockchain, or he could use all that cash in funding a team that could create a decentralized blockchain that would host WEB3 apps similar with facebook, twitter and instagram.
This way he would clearly support freedom of speech and anti establishment communities.
Elon Musk is a man of emotions and you can clearly see that from his actions, thus I can see such move as a way of gaining himself more power of decision over plebs. Don't get me wrong, I'm not making the devil out of Elon, but I wouldn't put all that money into twitter.
He could buy BTC, HIVE, invest in a decentralized blockchain project designed for WEB3 application, or create his own social media app from scratch if that's what he wishes for, but twitter... Come on, man... It's famous for censorship, we all know that.
Anyway, it's not my money, but if I were Elon I wouldn't buy twitter. It's a second hand merch, he's never gonna be able to transform it into what he might wish to and it is an app of the establishment. Just my two cents
Thanks for attention,
Adrian

I think there's no big buys into BTC for the same reason why major corporations (microsoft, apple, etc.) aren't putting BTC on their balance sheets, which i think is a big shame. I do think that once someone like Elon finally does however, it's just a matter of time...
I agree.

Musk isnt an advocate for decentralization. He is from the centralized world. Even though he is tied to DOGE, that doesnt mean he fully supports the values of cryptocurrency. In fact, it is likely he is just another wealthy entrant who doesnt care about that.
He claims freedom of speech but has no idea that decentralization is the solution. I bet he things he can solve it on a centralized platform. After all, that is what he knows.
But not to be outdone, Sunny Boi is now in the bidding.

Lol if Justin Sun buys it imagine how many user bans would happen the next day.
They will leave on their own.

The smart ones will for sure.
I have for long had the feeling that Sun is pushed by Jack Ma into his purchasing spree. He has too much money...

I see Elon Musk as someone who's old money trying to move into new money and that's centralized to decentralized, I don't know but something like that. Personally, I feel the reason he's doing all this is just for the popularity and personal gain and trust me I don't think he will stop at twitter, he just wants to be everywhere.

He likes for sure to be under the spot lights.

I don't think Elon wants to build up an application from the ground up and this is probably the only way in which he can see his ideals happen on Twitter. So I think it is fine and it will be a good chance to see if he can get rid of the politics involved in Twitter or not.

I doubt he will be able to do that.

Elon Musk's move, whatever its ultimate result is, served a useful purpose by revealing the lengths certain people and organisations would go in order to maintain the status quo and how all the noble talk about democracy, free market and freedom of speech is worthless when it clashes with certain interests.

True. That will help WEB3 adoption imo.

You have already mentioned that Elon musk seeks attention.it wouldn't make sense if he wants to build his social media from scratch.twitter is a well known app and I think it will be easy for him to advertise his business and seek that attention he wants.I don't dispute the fact investing in a decentralized social media like hive is a best way to go.

He has the power to offer a new social media app plenty of exposure.

He doesn't want to go through that I presume but he has the power to do more than just that
