Requesting the Menu
Menus might not always be readily available or could be hidden. To request the menu, use, “La carta, por favor.” Remember, the word “menú” refers to a fixed-price meal, not the physical menu, so be clear when ordering.
Wine and Drinks Selection
Once you’ve got your menu, you'll likely be interested in the drinks. To ask for the wine list, say, “La carta de vinos, por favor.” When ordering wine by the glass, inquire with, “¿Qué vino tenéis por copa?” which means “What wines do you have by the glass?”
If you decide on ordering a bottle of wine, for a red wine, say, “Una botella de vino tinto, por favor.” For white wine, adjust it to “Una botella de vino blanco, por favor.”
