Friends and acquaintances, motivated by their relationships, often provided superficial praise, rather than critical insights. The founders were misguided by this positive feedback loop, leading them to continually add features that users suggested, rather than focusing on the core problem they aimed to solve. This resulted in an overly complicated app that overwhelmed potential users.
