While many governments and international organizations emphasize afforestation to meet ambitious tree planting goals, this approach often overlooks the complexity of carbon storage.
For instance, the Bonn Challenge, established in 2011, aims to restore 350 million hectares of degraded land globally by 2030, partially through afforestation. Various corporations also engage in tree planting as a means to offset emissions and mitigate negative public perceptions stemming from their contributions to climate change.
