Bigorexia, a form of body dysmorphic disorder, is characterized by an obsessive preoccupation with muscle mass. Current research estimates that around 10% of bodybuilders experience this disorder, while its prevalence among male weightlifters can range from 13.6% to an alarming 44%. Yet, identifying this issue remains difficult, as individuals appear outwardly healthy but wrestle with severe internal struggles, leading to substantial mental health challenges.
