Despite my parents' assistance, I relied heavily on planning and organization to source materials, as doing everything without a car made the logistics complicated. With the seasons turning and colder weather approaching, I threw together a wobbly kitchen counter, connected the water supply, and began to carve out a working space for myself.
Adapting to Winter Living
Winter set in, and with it came its own set of challenges. I moved into the smallest room, which I would heat with a modest electrical radiator, while the rest of the cabin remained cold. As mice scampered across my work zone, I focused on fortifying the cabin's structure. I closed gaps in the ceiling, added insulation, and dealt with flooring repairs.
