Trump's criticism of European nations for their perceived reliance on U.S. military support has resurfaced, as he views them as "freeloading" off the U.S. defense umbrella. His previous assertions during his presidency suggested that the U.S. might even reconsider its commitment to NATO, should the spending target not be met.
