Part 2/6:
As of January, the total portfolio value across two platforms—Free Trade and Trading 212—was approximately £25,600. The Free Trade portfolio amounted to £12,924, predominantly invested in five individual stocks and an All World ETF. In contrast, the Trading 212 portfolio was valued at roughly £12,725, featuring a diverse range of investments including ETFs and individual stocks.
The transformation began with selling about £65,000 worth of US stocks, which included positions in tech giants like Google, Microsoft, and Amazon. This sell-off was motivated by high transactional fees associated with holding US stocks on Free Trade, which charged £7 per transaction. By transitioning to Trading 212, where no such fees are applied, the investor anticipated long-term savings.
