International Response and Fear of Escalation
Amid fears of war, the international community has intensified diplomatic efforts, with the UN Security Council urging Rwanda to uphold Congo's territorial integrity. The U.S. Secretary of State also reached out to Rwandan President Paul Kagame, attempting to broker a ceasefire. Despite mounting pressure and threats of sanctions, Kagame has remained adamant that his country's actions are a defensive measure against perceived threats emanating from Congolese territory.
