Typically, pay ranges from 13 to 25 cents per tree depending on the land's difficulty. Those planting on easier terrain will earn less per tree, and those on more challenging land will earn more. This approach is intended to balance out earnings—working on tough land may inherently yield fewer trees planted but offers a higher pay rate per tree.
Personal Experience and Earnings Potential
Reflecting on personal experiences, the author shared impressive figures from their tenure in tree planting. In their first season, although they were inexperienced and planted about 100,000 trees at an average of 16 cents each, they earned $16,000 after tax and deductions. As their efficiency increased, they were able to plant more trees in subsequent seasons.
