Fitting in the necessary workouts proved demanding as well, especially with a personal aversion to running. A first 5K run, completed in over 28 minutes, revealed the reality of current fitness levels, marking the beginning of a series of fitness assessments to track progress.
To adequately gauge fitness levels, an analysis session at a facility in London measured various metrics, including VO2 max, a vital indicator of cardiovascular capacity. With a result of 45, the individual found himself in a good category for his age, but aspirations of reaching excellence lingered.
