Originally colonized by Germany in 1884, control shifted to Britain and France after World War I, which drew the lines that would later manifest in linguistic and cultural tensions. Today, Cameroon has a diverse population of around 29 million, yet the central government operates mainly in French, leaving a significant English-speaking minority facing systemic marginalization.
