As I engage critically with Johnny Harris's arguments, I maintain that the idea of nationalism is not merely an invention of the 1800s, nor is it devoid of substance. To cast it solely as a product of elite manipulation or a pathway to conflict undermines its value in offering belonging and connection to individuals around the world.
In a time fraught with division, finding balance within our identities—embracing both our national affiliations and our shared humanity—may well be the key to moving forward.
