My experiences visiting various landmarks in Poland—such as a town square marked by a monument to fascism—led me to reflect on the historical significance of the country. Poland’s experiences with foreign occupations have likely enhanced their commitment to support neighboring Ukraine in these turbulent times, understanding all too well the impacts of oppression.
