One of the most notable features of the Miyawaki Method is the high planting density. The approach encourages mingling multiple species within a small plot (often about the size of tennis courts) rather than planting vast areas with one species. This offers competition for light, leading to accelerated growth and forming a diverse habitat that attracts various wildlife.
In Kent's trial, the Miyawaki plot achieved a remarkable 99% survival rate compared to only 75% in the conventional site, which resulted in twice the amount of wildlife taking refuge in the denser habitat.
