The inspiration for this project started when the brothers stumbled upon a lightweight van on Facebook Marketplace. The van, with an impressive record of only 71,000 km, was imported from Japan and featured an uncommon right-side steering wheel configuration. With the added advantage of four-wheel drive, the excitement to convert this stylish yet compact van into a functional camper was palpable.
Initial Steps: Gutting the Van
Upon acquiring the van, the first step involved stripping it down to its bare shell. The initial weight of the van stood at 2,380 lbs, a crucial benchmark to reference after the conversion was complete. With an unexpected amount of interior space revealed, they began the process of building it back up.
