The notion of zero or even negative growth, known as “degrowth,” presents a complex dilemma. Advocating for degrowth may initially threaten those reliant on government programs and investment, underscoring the idea that growth can directly correlate with economic stability for vulnerable populations.
However, it also opens up a dialog about the misrepresentation of growth as the ultimate goal. A balance must exist between fostering economic vitality and ensuring true welfare.
