In Canada, the election of the Prime Minister does not occur directly. Instead, the country is divided into over 340 electoral districts, referred to as ridings, where Canadians cast their votes for a Member of Parliament (MP). The candidate who wins the most votes in their riding becomes the MP for that district. The leader of the political party securing the highest number of elected MPs subsequently becomes the Prime Minister.
