Since the onset of the conflict, Poland has contributed significantly to Ukraine's defense efforts, providing more military aid per capita than any other country except for the Baltic states. Its efforts have included offering aircraft and functioning as a vital logistical hub, facilitating the passage of approximately 95% of military assistance to Ukraine. Furthermore, Poland has received nearly two million Ukrainian refugees, more than any other European nation.
To bolster its own defense capabilities, Poland has ramped up military spending, aiming for a staggering 4.7% of its GDP by 2025, a figure far exceeding NATO's 2% spending target. This increase in military investment has transformed Poland's armed forces into the third largest in NATO, trailing only the United States and Turkey.
