Russia's demands can also be viewed through the lens of its overall position in the conflict. Stalling a ceasefire could play to the Kremlin’s advantage, granting it more time to fortify its position on the battlefield. As Trump pursues peace, these added demands might allow Russia to continue its military objectives while appearing to negotiate in good faith.
Nevertheless, it remains unclear if the Trump administration will accept these conditions or if the U.S. will consider increasing military support for Ukraine in light of such demands.
