While Canada indeed maintains a system of protectionist measures intended to stabilize prices in key agricultural sectors—most notably Dairy, chicken, eggs, turkey, and hatching eggs—much of the information circulating about these tariffs may be misleading. In 2017, the effective tariff rate on U.S. imports from Canada was approximately 2%, a figure that became even more favorable following the recent USMCA (United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement).
