In contrast, factory-built housing, or prefab housing, involves the construction of modular panels and building components within a controlled factory environment. This method produces sections of homes in a precise and efficient manner that can then be transported to the site for quick assembly. While the potential for mass production of homes is enticing, prefab housing currently only accounts for a small fraction of new home construction, highlighting the gap between concept and execution.
