As days progress, he learns more about the complexities of The Village through various encounters. Despite the mundane rituals of life within The Village, Michael is haunted by visions and memories of Lucy, a woman from his past life in New York, deepening his yearning for reality outside his predicament. As he children play in The Village theatre and his brother, 16, emerges, Michael seeks coherence in a chaotic world, increasingly uneasy at the undertones of manipulation and obedience propagating in The Village.
