Part 5/8:
As Doug transitions into adulthood, he pursues a degree in biological sciences and takes on a job at a dog shelter, where implicit lessons from his past guide his interactions with animals. When the shelter is threatened with closure, Doug's resourcefulness leads him to hide with the dogs in an abandoned college building. His connection with the dogs transforms into a mission; he becomes their protector—an unlikely vigilante against a local gangster known as The Executioner who extorts local businesses.
