In an imagined future, a world has emerged where emotions are deemed a liability. Society, referred to as “The Collective,” has achieved a semblance of peace through the eradication of feelings and personal connections among its citizens, called "members." While the utopian traits include the elimination of diseases, violence, and crime, the suppression of emotions has created a starkly monotonous existence.
