As tensions rise within the building, a stark sense of social stratification emerges. The architects of the tower have unwittingly created a space that divides its residents into classes, setting the wealthy against the lower floors, culminating into physical confrontations reminiscent of societal unrest. Wilder’s desperate party and the ensuing chaos at the expense of the upper-class residents symbolize the boiling undercurrent of discontent that grows throughout the narrative.
Simultaneously, Royal, the architect, becomes an embodiment of denial regarding the well-being of his tenants. As he tries to rationalize the design of the building while dismissing its flaws, he exemplifies the obliviousness of those in power to the plight of the marginalized.
