As the story unfolds, Akae is coerced into a web of espionage. Tasked by Armaros to spy on Logos, she develops a complex relationship with him, drawing her closer to the dissenting group. The stakes rise as she discovers the troubling effects of a medicine known as Maintenance, which suppresses human emotions, turning citizens into subdued robots under The Pilot’s regime.
Logos’s defiance against the systematic control intensifies as he associates with the rebellious group led by Medorin. They uncover the virus, initially created by Helias (Pilot’s former collaborator), which can dismantle the immortality code. The group yearns to awaken the emotions of those under Pilot's manipulative grasp and restore their capacity to feel.
