As the plane began to shake amid severe turbulence, passengers learned from a fellow traveler that the warm winds from Argentina colliding with the cold mountain air often caused such conditions. Unfortunately, the turbulence intensified, and the aircraft suddenly plunged several miles before crashing into the treacherous mountainside. The impact splintered the plane in half. Many passengers were killed instantly, and others faced life-or-death situations as they awoke to a scene of chaos and horror, with blood everywhere and fellow teammates trapped in their seats.
