Death continued to ring with heartbreaking regularity—friends and teammates succumbed to the hardships faced, turning their mournful grieving into feasts of survival.
A ray of hope flickered when survivors found some useful materials amid the debris; with careful planning, they rebuilt warmth and comfort within the wreck. They fashioned sleeping bags, collected food from the plane’s tail, and synchronized efforts to make the most out of dwindling supplies, all while tending to their sick. Tragically, many were too weak to withstand the cold or the grief of loss.
