Amid this dystopian backdrop thrives Adam, a lone human still determined to navigate the outside world without relying on clones or technology. Clad in a hazmat suit, he commutes alone to a near-empty workplace haunted by remnants of social life, often isolated at his desk except for the occasional cleaning crew member. Adam’s refusal to take Lithium X leaves him fluctuating emotionally, a circumstance exacerbated when a clone doctor delivers life-altering news: he is terminally ill and needs a heart transplant, which is nearly impossible to procure due to the rarity of sudden deaths in this era.
