Part 2/7:
The film begins by presenting a disturbing picture of June's world. Living in a decaying cottage surrounded by dense forests, she constructs a narrative that the outside world is perilous, infested with an unseen evil force. To protect her twin boys and themselves, they forge an existence steeped in caution and ritual, tying themselves to their home with ropes whenever they venture outside. This measure, as explained by June, shields them from "the great evil" that has claimed their father and grandparents. The ropes act as both physical and psychological protections against the unknown threats lurking in the wilderness.
