Part 3/7:
The Disappointment of a Birthday
As the narrative progresses, we see Fletcher's negligence extend to his son's birthday. Despite Audrey attempting to shield Max from disappointment, the boy’s heart wrenches for his father’s absence at his celebration. In an act of desperation mixed with childlike sincerity, Max wishes for his father's lies to end, inadvertently invoking a magical change in Fletcher’s life.
The next morning, Fletcher wakes up unable to lie, creating an intriguing conflict. The once-smooth lawyer is now confronting the uncomfortable truth of his life and relationships. His inability to tell lies exposes the depth of his carelessness, and even leads to unintended rudeness, further complicating his already strained relationships.
