To impress Rose further, the Doctor propels them into a dystopian future, landing on a space station 5 billion years ahead of their original time. From their orbiting vantage point, they witness a breathtaking spectacle: the sun beginning to expand—a precursor to the Earth's impending doom. The Doctor somberly explains that humanity abandoned Earth long ago, leaving the planet under the management of the National Trust, which utilizes gravity satellites to stave off the sun’s destructive effects. Nevertheless, resources are finite, and the two adventurers grasp the reality that Earth faces obliteration in mere moments.
