As the couple navigates Hunter's crisis, it becomes evident that Richie’s priorities lie primarily within business and social status, rather than Hunter's well-being. His lackluster support leads her deeper into her compulsions, showcasing the toxic dynamics of their relationship. Despite therapy attempts, Hunter feels betrayed when she learns Richie has compromised her privacy by bribing her therapist for information about her sessions.
Hunter's mental state rapidly deteriorates, culminating in a series of self-destructive actions. She finds solace in Luis, Richie's hired assistant, who becomes a source of compromise in her unravelling world. However, his attempts at control only deepen her frustration and drive her towards further reckless behavior.
