Part 2/8:
The episode opens with the MOT agent, Irene, who finds herself in the midst of a chaotic childbirth in Barcelona, circa 1918. After a successful delivery, she faintly celebrates before succumbing to the deadly Spanish Flu, which would go on to claim approximately 50 million lives during the outbreak.
In the present day, Chief Dr. Vargas deliberates the grave situation with Susanna, the newly appointed head of operations. Vargas deems it risky to retrieve Irene, fearing the spread of the flu among MOT personnel. However, Susanna argues that with adequate health protocols, Irene can be saved. Reluctantly, Vargas allows the operation to proceed, leading to Irene's return, albeit in a critical state of high fever and unconsciousness.
