The story unfolds inside a refrigerator, where a basket of eggs resides. Suddenly, one of the eggs, Gudetama, begins to move, leading to an unexpected birth. The chaos starts as one egg falls, and there you find the birth of Gudetama, who is immediately met by Shipo, a newly hatched chick who believes Gudetama to be his mother due to filial imprinting. This captivating corner of the world reveals how a lazy egg starts his adventures after Shipo insists they need to find their mother because, despite being born in Japan, the second largest egg-consuming nation, they owe it to themselves to explore the world.
