As various narrative strands intertwine, Taylor, another refinery worker, brings up a Mongolian legend about holes in the ground heralding the awakening of the Death Worm—a story Patrick dismisses as superstition. Yet, one worker's horrifying encounter with the worm solidifies the legend's truth, ultimately leading to deaths and chaos in the refinery.
The crew encounters numerous setbacks, including bandit ambushes and mechanical failures, forcing them into a local gang's lair. The gang's leader Kowalin captures the team, prompting Daniel to devise a plan to escape. In an electrifying turn of events, the creature they were warned about begins attacking the gang's members, allowing Daniel and his crew a chance to flee amidst the chaotic carnage.
