The adaptation capabilities of wolves have come under scrutiny as scientists work to understand the determinants of their migrations. While traditionally wolves roamed in packs, solitary wolves like Ligabue, Alan, and Slavko risk their lives by venturing into unknown territories. Each of these wolves faced numerous dangers as they crossed human spaces—roads, fences, and farmlands— —to seek new habitats for survival and reproduction.
For Ligabue, his journey took him to territories rich in game, illustrating how important it is for wolves to find suitable hunting grounds. Yet, these migrations carry significant risks, particularly from predators within their own species and from humans trying to protect their livestock.
