When placed on trial, Hari boldly states his theory and warns of dire consequences predicted to unfold over the next five centuries, resulting in unprecedented conflict and the annihilation of entire planets. He proposes that the chaos could be lessened by establishing an encyclopedic foundation of human knowledge, a plan that both alarmed and fascinated the ruling dynasts.
