Prince Frederick’s battle with a rare genetic condition known as Paul G mitochondrial disease began when he was just 14 years old. This disorder, as recognized by the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation, results from mutations in an individual’s genes, severely afflicting multiple organs, including critical systems such as the brain and liver. As is often the case with rare diseases, the lack of a curative treatment posed tremendous challenges, both for Frederick and his family.
