During a recent interview, McMahon emphasized that the government's aim is to eliminate what she described as "bloat" within the department. Nearly half of the department's workforce, consisting of about 4,100 employees, will be reduced, a process referred to as a "Reduction in Force." The Secretary stressed the need to retain only those who perform their roles effectively while ensuring that crucial programs, especially those funded through congressional appropriations like Title I and programs supporting individuals with disabilities, are not compromised.
