Part 3/6:
Betsy had made an appointment for herself on February 12 and had spoken to one of the clinic’s doctors that morning, who advised her to come in later that afternoon. However, she failed to make that appointment. While Dr. Child claims there were no signs of respiratory distress or any related symptoms on her part, the appointment, he emphasizes, was unrelated to Hantavirus.
The Investigation and Discovery of the Couple
On February 26, police discovered the bodies of Betsy and Gene, who is now 95. Following a thorough investigation, authorities announced on March 7 that Betsy had died from Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome at the age of 64, while Gene is believed to have succumbed about a week later to hypertensive atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, compounded by Alzheimer's disease.
