Conservation Efforts
At the heart of the expedition lies a significant environmental undertaking: the creation of artificial reefs in the Bay of Marseilles. Led by Sandrine Ruitton from the Université de la Mediterranée, the project aims to replicate the reforestation of a desert but underwater. The artificial reefs provide a structured habitat for multiple marine species, allowing life to flourish again in a region once deemed lifeless.
