Part 7/10:
Parallel to the sacred story of the Ark, we turn our attention to the African landscape, specifically Namibia, where another kind of taboo established itself—this time around diamond mining. The pristine coasts of Namibia, rich in diamonds, prompted an influx of prospectors in the late 19th century, leading to a cultural upheaval as fortunes were quickly won and lost, alongside drastic environmental and community impacts.
Amid rich geological formations, the initial discovery by local workers sparked a rush that saw towns rise and fall. Much of Namibia's diamond legacy continues through controlled industrial extraction, echoing the historical taboos surrounding legitimate claims to treasure and limiting access, mirroring the religious contexts observed with the Ark of the Covenant.
