Part 2/7:

The cheetah stands out as a prime example of nature’s speed demon, equipped with a slender physique, flexible spine, and immense power of its heart and lungs. Capable of reaching 93 kilometers per hour, it holds the record as the fastest land predator. Yet, the African plains—though teeming with prey like the Thomson's gazelle—are a challenging hunting ground. Gazelles possess incredible hearing and scent detection abilities to flag dangers, and once alerted, can sprint away at impressive speeds.

To succeed, the cheetah must carefully approach its target, employing strategies that might involve hiding in tall grass to mask its presence. The dangerous chase is brief, often lasting only seconds—the cheetah can only maintain its top speed for about ten seconds before needing to rest.
