His early work began in 2003 with the discovery of a hidden tunnel beneath the site, which sparked his quest to uncover the mystery of its origins.

With no written records left by its builders, the city’s monumental architecture, including the Pyramid of the Sun and the Pyramid of the Moon, provides the only link to the past. These massive structures were believed by the Aztecs, who came upon Teotihuacan centuries after its abandonment, to be created by divine beings. This led to the name "Teotihuacan," meaning "City of the Gods."
